Welcome to College Farm
College Farm is a beautiful medieval house situated in the village of Thompson three miles from the market town of Watton. It was built by Katharine’s ancestors in 1349 as a College of Priests to serve St Martin’s Church and the villagers of Thompson. The college was dissolved by Henry VIII in 1541 when it then became a private house.
College Farm sits in 15 acres of lawns and woodland on the edge of the village and is the perfect secluded venue for your wedding reception or private party. B&B accommodation is also available in newly refurbished en suite rooms at £100 per room per night.
The Jacobean panelled room is licenced for weddings and civil partnerships and is also available for parties up to 24 people. Traditional cream teas are served in the garden (weather permitting) or by the fire in the panelled dining room if it’s too cold to sit outside. All food served at College Farm is organic and home-made or locally sourced. There is plenty of car parking in an adjacent field.
We have a field available for camping and there is also plenty of parking in another field.

We only hold a few weddings a year here making sure that College Farm is a special place to get married. We offer several options for the marriage ceremony including duo ceremonies where you have most of the ceremony outside then come inside to sign the register in our Jacobean panelled room. Alternatively you are welcome to do all the formalities in your own Registry Office or church then come here for the reception afterwards.
We have a list of recommended local suppliers from caterers, florists, photographers, wedding planners, dressmakers, car hire, hairdressers, beauticians and many more. You can organise everything yourself or we can help as much or as little as you like.
We are very flexible and the idea is to make every wedding completely unique - we offer the setting and allow you to design the rest. We don’t charge VAT or corkage so you can save money by catering yourselves and bringing your own drinks.
Rare breed animals are kept at College Farm - pigs for sausages, chickens for eggs, sheep for breeding & meat, goats for grazing and alpacas & llamas for keeping the foxes away from the chickens.
We also have pingos (shallow ponds formed during the last ice age) in the garden & woodland surrounding College Farm. Breckland is one of the few areas in the world where pingos can be found.
You can hire the lawn & gardens for 4 days allowing you plenty of time and space to plan your special day. wedding.
